ethan is doing great. as you can see...his oxygen has been removed as of last night at 6pm and he has only had a small episode which he corrected immediately. i hope for his sake...it stays out. he hates those tubes up his nose (can you blame him?). he has been gaining weight steadily and will probably hit the 3lb mark today. almost back up to birth weight. you go ethan! it is hard to believe he is a week and 1/2 old. what a fighter!!!

updates
his feedings are up to 26cc of breast milk (30cc is 1 oz) so that is great. he really is just plugging away eating and resting. his weight on saturday was continuing to go up...now at 2lbs 14oz. he is getting back up to that 3lb mark.
they did an ultrasound on his head on friday to double check everything and make sure there was no blood in the brain (evidently b/c their veins are so fragile, during childbirth there can be a rupture and a little bleeding is normal. they just like to check to make sure there isn't a lot.) ethan has none. dr. cadero says that everything looks perfect. so no excuses for not studying or doing homework down the road!
and oh yeah...he got his navel central feeding line removed!! he seems so much more comfortable now that all the tubes are out. plus now it is easier to hold him without the fear that something might become dislodged or cause bleeding. now if we could just get that oxygen tube out of his nose...ethan would be very content. he keeps pulling it out on his own. he definitely doesn't care for this at all. the nurses have to be on their toes with this little bush boy!
